Vehicle Eligibility for Turo in the USA

Hello Turo enthusiasts! As a host, it's important to know the ins and outs of what types of vehicles you can list on Turo in the USA. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of Turo’s vehicle eligibility requirements:

Vehicle Type and Registration

  • Eligible Vehicles: Passenger vehicles located in the United States, registered to you or an authorized owner, meeting all state legal requirements.

  • Ineligible Vehicles: This list includes motorcycles, limousines, box trucks, vehicles seating more than 10 people, RVs, vehicles requiring a commercial license, off-road vehicles, and certain three-wheeled vehicles.

  • License Plates: Vehicles must have permanent or temporary plates. Dealer or trader plates are not accepted.

Vehicle Condition

  • Age and Mileage: Vehicles should be no more than 12 years old and have fewer than 130,000 miles. Exceptional vehicles that exceed this mileage may remain listed if they're in excellent condition.

  • Maintenance: Continue meeting Turo's maintenance and safety standards as your vehicle ages.

  • Value Limit: The fair market value should be up to $200,000, with Turo covering the actual cash value up to this amount.

New York Specifics

  • Inspection Sticker: Vehicles in New York must have an inspection sticker valid through at least the following month.

  • Host Orientation: Hosts must complete Turo's host orientation before listing vehicles.

Title and Total Loss

  • Clean Title: Vehicles must have a clean title. It’s important to know your vehicle’s history and obtain a vehicle history report if necessary.

  • Total Loss: Vehicles should never have been declared a total loss.

Vehicle Insurance and Consistency

  • Insurance: Your vehicle must meet Turo’s insurance requirements.

  • Exclusivity Policy: Abide by Turo's exclusivity policy for a consistent guest experience.

  • OEM Tracker: For vehicles valued at $125,000 or more, proof of an active OEM tracker is required.

Specialty or Classic Vehicles

  • Age and Value: Classic cars 25 years or older (with special considerations for those 12-25 years old) can be listed, with a value up to $85,000.

  • Condition: These vehicles must be in excellent mechanical and physical condition and have all seat belts in safe, working condition.

  • Additional Review: Subject to further review by Turo.

By adhering to these detailed eligibility criteria, you ensure your vehicle listings are compliant, safe, and appealing to a wide range of Turo users.
